| Freedom Jazz Stimulus Jazz Sessions Designed to Beat the Recession! Join the Freedom Jazz Festival and Debbie Duncan at the Capri Theater November 14, 2009 for "Freedom Jazz Stimulus: Jazz Sessions Designed to Beat the Recession!" Continuing with our 2009 theme "Jazz for a Brave New World", this new community event features an art show and a jazz concert along with a youth jazz workshop earlier in the day. Debbie Duncan tops the show performing later in the evening. All events are intended to provide a stimulus to the Twin Cities jazz community in the wake of the recent entertainment downturn. "People need art, music and good feelings during this time", Lamarr Scott, President of the Freedom Jazz Festival. The concert features the divine Ms. Debbie Duncan who will keep you warm with her mix of blues, jazz and gospel. The art exhibit unfolds the affair with the beautiful and energetic art pieces of resident artists Richard Amos, Suzy McNamara, Adonis Saverson and world class jazz artifacts and history supplied by Tony Garrett. This weekend session is part of a long-term plan by Freedom Jazz Festival to provide high quality jazz focused entertainment to the metro area. Continuing with the success of its summer outdoor jazz concert in August; "This is a great opportunity to showcase artists and music for all ages through the seasons here at the Capri", Jeff Keys, FJF Music Program Coordinator. Proceeds will be used to provide jazz education and free music concerts. The art exhibit unfolds at 5:30 pm through 6:45 pm. where you can view great art and experience a wonderful time in jazz history. A jazz workshop for young musicians led by accomplished musicians runs from 11 am to 2 pm. Students will perform with the Freedom Jazz Set, the opening act of the concert at 7:00 pm. At 8 pm settle back and enjoy musical renditions of Debbie Duncan. Appetizers and beverages will be available during the art exhibit before the show. Tickets for the art exhibit and concert package are $20 per person at the door.
